Interests

Research Interests

  • Host-Pathogen Interactions
  • Novel Antimicrobial Therapies
  • Proteomics

At the Bench

Kristina is a pediatric infectious disease fellow interested in basic and translational research of invasive bacterial infections. Originally from Western Massachusetts, she first got started in research at UMASS Amherst as an undergraduate, studying quorum sensing in the model gram positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis. She then completed MD PhD training at NYU School of Medicine studying Staphylococcus aureus leukotoxins under the mentorship of Victor Torres before moving to San Diego for residency and fellowship in Peds ID through the Pediatric Scientist Training Program. Kristina will join the Nizet lab and Gonzalez lab in summer of 2025 and plans to take a proteomics approach to uncover host-microbe interactions and further the development of novel therapeutics to treat antimicrobial resistant pathogens.

Outside of Lab

Kristina enjoys lifting heavy weights, walking everywhere, yoga, and a smattering of other active and outdoor activities. She also likes live music, board game nights with friends, and visiting the local libraries.
