Semi-monthly Seminars at Rady

This seminar aims to engage pediatric fellows in all aspects of academic research, by blending lectures from faculty with fellow presentations. The series occurs every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm via ZOOM.

Goals & Opportunities

• To provide an opportunity to highlight your work at a local, multispecialty meeting,
  improve presentation skills and receive feedback from peers and other faculty. 
• To offer a forum to increase both fellow and faculty knowledge of the breadth and depth of clinical, translational, and basic research in the Department of Pediatrics and to encourage potential collaborative efforts. 
• Aims to encourage academic pursuits beyond fellowship by providing examples of the different ways research can be incorporated into a career, with advice from Department faculty. 

Format

The seminar begins each fall with a series of faculty presentations ranging from IRB information and statistics, to explorations of academic career development, and to provide introductions to the larger research community at Rady Children’s Hospital and UCSD. The spring seminars are led by fellow presentations: 25 minute presentations to describe the hypothesis, aims and results at any stage of your project, similar to the format of Scholarship Oversight Committee meetings. Fellows are expected to present at least once during their training. 

Attendance

Attendance is required for all fellows.
