Mentorship

The UC San Diego Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering academic excellence, leadership, and professional growth among its faculty. Mentorship is central to this mission, providing guidance through academic, peer, and leadership pathways. The Department of Pediatrics Mentoring Excellence Committee (DOPMEC) supports this work by evaluating mentorship relationships, facilitating adjustments when needed, and strengthening connections, ensuring all faculty have access to the guidance and support they need to thrive.

Peer Mentorship

Peer mentorship fosters collaboration and community within the Department of Pediatrics. Faculty connect through quarterly lunches on topics like promotion, academic review, and networking, as well as curated cohorts in areas such as medical education, research, and leadership. These programs spark new ideas, build collaborations, and strengthen professional relationships.
