Clinical
Interested medical students can rotate on our Pediatric clinical services to gain exposure to the breadth of diverse patients and pathophysiology we serve at RCHSD. Opportunities for trainees include:
Pre-Clinical Shadowing
Pre-clinical medical students can shadow various clinical services for a day at Rady Children's Hospital. This may either be done through the Careers in Medicine course or informally.
MS3 Core Pediatrics Clerkship
Medical students on their core Pediatrics Clerkship (PEDS 401) will spend 6 weeks on Pediatric rotations. The 3-week inpatient block will expose students to both the general Pediatric (hospital medicine) inpatient service and Pediatric subspecialt inpatient services. MS3 Electives
Medical students have three 3-week electives during their MS3 year. Students may request to do an elective on one or more of the Pediatric subspecialty services listed below. Note that availability on a given elective rotation may vary across the academic year (e.g. if an MS4 subintern is scheduled, bandwidth may be limited). Ideally, students would have completed their core MS3 Pediatrics Clerkship (PEDS 401) prior to the elective rotation so they have baseline exposure to Pediatrics. Elective requests will be submitted to the School of Medicine prior to the start of each quarter.
