Developing a budget for a clinical research study is a crucial and detailed process that ensures adequate funding for all necessary activities while adhering to financial constraints and guidelines. Steps to consider are the Scope of the Study, Key Budget Categories including Personnel Cost, Study Supplies, Participant Costs, Site Costs such as facilities, IRB review fees, Data Management and Analysis. Regulatory Compliance, Training and Meetings, Publication and Dissemination as well as Contingency Funds for unexpected costs or changes.
Office of Clinical Affairs and Administration (OCAA) supports budget negotiations for industry initiated clinical trials. To request OCAA services for budget negotiations, your pre-award fund manager can assist with processing the Kuali Research Record and you can choose the OCAA budget negotiation services in the PIs compliance questionnaire.
