During their training, the interventional cardiology fellow works in our state-of-the-art Dickinson Image-Guided Intervention Center, the nation’s first comprehensive pediatric intervention center, incorporating cutting-edge technology into the field of interventional cardiology. They get firsthand experience as first assistant in over 200 procedures during their training.
Faculty/staff cardiologists are also active in training of pediatric residents and medical students. Every UCSD Pediatrics and Med/Peds Resident rotates through Pediatric Cardiology during their intern year and residents participate in the inpatient care of cardiac patients during their second year. Many residents also choose to do additional elective rotations in pediatric cardiology. The Division provides customized outpatient and inpatient experiences for pediatric residents and medical students.
