Application Procedure and Selection Process
Individuals with M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or D.O. training who are interested in an academic career in pediatric hematology-oncology are encouraged to apply. The applicant must be in or have completed an ACGME-accredited general pediatrics or combined medicine/pediatrics residency and have passed the USMLE steps 1 and 2.
Due to the rigorous clinical demands of our fellowship program, ACGME-accredited residency training is a prerequisite for acceptance, as this ensures proficiency in performing within the United States medical system.
In order for our trainees to be board-eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology at the end of their fellowship training, they must first be board-certified in general pediatrics through the American Academy of Pediatrics. UCSD does accept applicants with J1 visas, but not those with H1B visas.
The UCSD Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship program accepts two fellows each year. The program accepts applications for the 3-year ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship program through ERAS .
