Fellow Education

The Division of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine takes pride in training future pulmonologists. Our teaching philosophy centers on an education model that combines clinical teaching at the bedside with multiple education modalities.

Pulmonary Fellowship
Teaching Conferences:

Pulmonary Fellow Conference

Various formats are employed during this weekly conference with focus on clinical training:
  • Case discussion

The fellow presents a patient from the inpatient pulmonary service followed by a brief discussion of aspects of disease pathophysiology.
  • State of the Art

Fellows choose a topic to present an up-to-date, evidence based discussion.
  • Faculty Didactics

Pulmonary faculty discuss a topic in their field of expertise with focus on fellow learning objectives.
  • Journal Club

Fellows present a journal article with focus on the critical appraisal of the literature and clinical relevance and application.

Physiology Conference

Fellows rotate monthly topics to design an interactive session to review pulmonary physiology with co-fellows and faculty in an interactive, case-based session. Lung Physiology textbooks serve as a guide for assigned topics/chapters.

Radiology / Pathology Conference

A monthly discussion of chest imaging and pathology amongst pulmonologists, radiologists, and pathologists.

Pediatric Fellow Research Seminar Series

Pediatric fellows from all divisions present research proposals and results to co-fellows and faculty.
