About Us
Our division is comprised of 3 main sections all housed within the UC San Diego School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics:
- Academic General Pediatrics (AGP)
- Academic Newborn Medicine (NBM)
- Academic Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP)
Faculty provide direct patient care, teach medical trainees, perform research and quality improvement, and work in health advocacy and policy.
AGP and NBM faculty all complete 4 years of medical school, 3 years of pediatric residency, and many have completed further advanced degrees and training beyond residency.
DBP faculty also complete 3 additional years of sub-specialty training and focus on the evaluation, treatment, and coordination of care for children and adolescents with developmental delays, behavioral issues, and learning disorders.
Academic General Pediatrics (AGP) Faculty
- Direct and staff 3 UC San Diego School of Medicine general pediatric teaching clinics where residents, medical and physician assistant students receive training
- The UC San Diego AGP La Jolla Clinic
- This clinic also provides:
- Breast feeding support for medically complex newborns
- This clinic also provides:
- The UC San Diego AGP Kearny Mesa/Frost St. Clinic
- This clinic also provides:
- Extended clinic appointments for children with special needs through the UC San Diego AGP Special Needs Clinic
- International travel appointments
- Breast feeding support for medically complex newborns
- Direct access to Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician on-site consults in our shared office space (see below)
- Note: AGP and DBP faculty often share patients, provide on-site consults, and each group prioritizes each section's patients for appointments
- This clinic also provides:
- The AGP City Heights Clinic in affiliation with Family Health Centers of San Diego
- The UC San Diego AGP La Jolla Clinic
- Staff the Pediatric HIV Clinic at UC San Diego Health, the Owen Clinic
Academic Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Faculty
- Direct and staff the UC San Diego DBP Clinic where fellows, residents, and medical students receive training
- This clinic is co-located with UC San Diego AGP Clinic at Kearny Mesa/Frost St. Note: AGP and DBP faculty often share patients, provide on-site consults, and each group prioritizes each section's patients for appointments.
- Staff and provide consult services and teaching at Family Health Centers of San Diego Diamond Neighborhood Clinic, a federally qualified health center
- Staff and provide consult services at San Ysidro Health, a federally qualified health center
- Direct and staff the UC San Diego Health High Risk Infant Follow-up Clinic
- Staff the Rady Children's Hospital Down Syndrome Clinic
- Staff the Rady Children's Hospital Turner Syndrome Clinic
- Staff the Rady Children's Hospital Kids Start Clinic
- Staff the San Diego Regional Center
Academic Newborn Medicine (NBM) Faculty
- Direct and staff the UC San Diego Newborn Medicine service at UC San Diego Health Jacobs Medical Center on the Jacobs campus where residents, medical and physician assistant students receive training
- Provide prenatal consultations
- Direct Pediatric Quality Improvement at UCSD Health
- Maintain UC San Diego Health’s Baby Friendly status
- Provide expert support for breastfeeding
