Sharon received her undergraduate degree at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, majoring in English, then completed a Master's Degree in English from San Diego State University. After college, Sharon worked as an Executive Assistant and Journal Manager of two Biology Journals for Elsevier, the world's largest scientific publisher: Journal of Structural Biology and Analytical Biochemistry. Sharon joined UCSD in 2008, working as a Faculty Assistant for several prominent scientists in the Division of Biological Sciences before joining Victor Nizet’s group in 2010. There her responsibilities include administrative coordination in support of the laboratory research program, educational outreach, and activities in the broader Division of Host-Microbe Systems & Therapeutics. Sharon also joined our group when the Liu Lab moved to UCSD in January, 2019 and serves in similar capacity to the Division of Pediatrics Infectious Diseases. She is the new PEDS ID Fellowship Coordinator starting in the 2019-2020 academic year, under the Directorship of Chris Cannavino. Sharon also serves as the Administrator for the NIH/NICHD-Funded Center for Research in Pediatric & Developmental Pharmacology (RPDP) and the Core Administrator for the UCSD Health Sciences Center for Immunity, Infection & Inflammation.
