Profile

Megan is a third-year medical student who joined the Schwimmer lab in 2023. Originally from Torrance, CA, she obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara in 2020. Before medical school, she worked in clinical research on studies for diabetes technology and Alzheimer's prevention. She is particularly interested in gastroenterology, with a focus on how nutrition intersects with the prevention and management of gastrointestinal diseases and their comorbidities. She has been participating in Schwimmer lab research primarily on the role of whole-fat dairy in pediatric MASLD. This work has been accepted for oral presentation at UCSD School of Medicine's Summer Research Symposium, NASPGHAN's annual conference, and has received the 2025 NASPGHAN Nutrition Award. Outside of Schwimmer Lab, she enjoys cooking and gardening, and has co-founded the first Culinary Medicine program and Student Interest Group at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
