Miranda is a current fourth-year medical student at UC San Diego School of Medicine, applying into pediatrics residency programs this fall. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry at Muhlenberg College, where she completed an undergraduate thesis studying enzyme kinetics relevant to novel antibiotic synthesis. Following graduation, she spent a year at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia developing models of rare mitochondrial disease for therapeutic screening. Miranda joined the Schwimmer Lab in 2023, where she contributed to the first randomized controlled trial of C15:0 supplementation in humans, a fatty acid of interest in metabolic syndrome. She is currently focused a project evaluating the relationship between food insecurity and MASLD in children.
